International Conference – 2023
Welcome to the “NEO” Delhi

Delhi, a thriving cosmopolitan metropolis, celebrates a significant milestone: 100 years as the capital of India.

A century ago, the British relocated their empire’s seat from Kolkata to Delhi, which has remained India’s capital ever since. With a history spanning centuries, Delhi exemplifies an ancient culture within a rapidly modernizing nation. The city, dotted with monuments, offers much to explore. Once the seat of many powerful empires, its rich history is evident in its well-preserved monuments, ancient forts, and tombs.

Modern Delhi boasts a metro system, bustling markets, and fabulous eateries, seamlessly blending the past and present. Centuries-old monuments are integral to daily life. Known as Indraprastha in the epic Mahabharata, where the Pandavas lived, Delhi has grown over the centuries to include cities like Lal Kot, Siri, Dinpanah, Quila Rai Pithora, Ferozabad, Jahanpanah, Tughlakabad, and Shahjahanabad. Many empires, including the Tughlaqs, Khiljis, and Mughals, reached their zeniths and fell here.

For both first-time visitors and ardent fans, now is an ideal time to visit New Delhi. As the rains give way to autumn and winter, the city is at its best for tourists.

The scenic area around the India Gate complex, known as the Central Vista, has been revamped with beautifully laid-out lawns and multiple bridges over small canals. Rajpath has been renamed Kartavya Path, and the six-kilometer stretch from Rashtrapati Bhawan to the Dhyan Chand National Stadium features beautifully landscaped open spaces. Winter evenings are perfect for strolling around the Central Vista, enjoying treats from street vendors. This area beautifully marries architecture, design, and tourism.
